Cover worn a bit - Spine cover missing - Outside covers and inside pages loose but intact - missing the lead page w/full color portrait of Hitler and three of the individual pasted in photos inside
This is a cigarette card/premium book put out by the Altonia Tobacco Company in Bahrenfeld. During the 1930s cigarette packages had a coupon inside and you would send in so many coupons and you would receive a packet of pictures in the mail that you would then paste into an album. The album would have been purchased for only 5 marks from the company. The title refers to Adolf Hitler Pictures from the Life of the Leader. There are 132 pages of images and explanatory text; hundred of photos of historic events, the army, navy, SS and SA, Wehrmacht (armed forces), important buildings, even a section showing paintings and drawings by the Fuhrer, himself. Pictures ranging in size from 4 x 3 inches to 7 x 5 inches are included within the pages. The book measures 12 x 9 1/2 inches and is about 1 inch thick.
